Today boasted 68* weather, a wee
bit windy . . . almost perfect for the
third golf tournament of the boys'
golf season, held at Somersett.
Sam played great! Like all good golfers,
had a few "rough" holes, but overall
did a great job. We were excited to watch
the boys play and to have a strong finish.
The course is still in pretty rough shape
after the cold winter months, but in a couple
of months will be green and ready for action.
Somersett is the hardest course that the
boys' golf team plays during the season.
It is hilly and boasts long holes. The crews
were tired as they approached the 18th
hole!
My two companions and I had fun
while we were waiting for the guys
to tally up their scores. Actually, we
were debating just what we would
have for a little snack on our way home.
Two of my very favorite peeps!
. . . the guys verifying their scores.
As much as golf is an individual sport, we
enjoy watching the teams compete. Sam
has great team spirit and supports all of
the brand new golfers on the team this
year. We are a wee bit sad that Sam will
not play for McQueen during his senior
year. Next year, Sam will be a Desert Oasis
Diamondback. Truly it is a blessing as he
will be playing for the executive director
of Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association.
He is excited that Sam will be playing
for their team next year. Their home
course is Highland Falls in Summerlin.
Sam's sidekick, Luke, is excited to play
golf for the middle school next year.
