Triggers.

Grief counselors call them triggers.  Triggers are
those things that are like little daggers to your
heart and bring on an ambush of feelings about
the loved one you have lost.  There are about
fifty bazillion triggers that bring these feelings
about my sweet Mike.  If I see a truck that looks
like his driving down the street, the tears flow,
if I hear songs on the radio, it is difficult to hold
tears back . . .
Mike knew how much I loved
carmel dip on just.about.anything.  He purchased
this carmel dip about a month before he
went to Heaven.  I have it tucked behind other
items in the pantry, but every so often it
sneaks up . . .
To this point, I really have not moved or
touched ANYTHING let alone pack up or
donate any clothing or personal items.  Seeing
these glasses in his medicine cabinet . . . The
ones that always had shaving cream on the
ear pieces . . . a definite trigger.  I cannot move
the soap in the soap dish in the shower . . .
plus about a million other things.

Losing your spouse is just about one of the
toughest things that I can ever imagine.
Losing my sweet Mike still seems pretty
surreal to me.  I do think that I am still teater
between shock and denial.  I really simply
do not want to believe it.

I must say that our wonderful Lord has
provided me with wonderful family and
friends . . . old and new.  He has brought
people in to my life that I would have
never imagined.  He has allowed me to
grow in areas that I never imagined.

Yep, I am sure that I will have these
triggers the rest of my entire life.  Triggers
that bring back to my mind very quickly
my Mike.  As we recover, we continue
to talk about our wonderful husband and
Dad each and every day.  I can tell when
one of the boys is especially missing him.
Things will NEVER be the same.  That is
difficult to realize.  We are beginning to
understand that we must accept our "new
normal" and listen as the Lord leads and
prompts us.

For a girl with a storybook life, this is
very difficult to accept . . . I spend many
hours each and every day in prayer and
devote much time to LISTENING . . . which
has NEVER been one of my strong suits.

Busy Monday.

It was actually after ten o'clock
at night before I actually had a
moment to snap a pic of my
efforts!!!  It was a gorgeous 70+
degree weather day today!!!  After
my 7.8 mile walk, I was excited to
put on my grubbies and work like
a dog in our beautiful backyard!!
I ran to Jeff's and borrowed his
leaf blower . . . that is one of the
best things that man has invented
hands.down.
I trimmed all of the trees,
... pulled all of the weeds...
... trimmed the rosebushes ...
... honeysuckle plants...
... mowed the lawn ...
... swept all of the porches ...
... blew the front ...
... weeded the front side ...
... washed down the patio chairs ...
... washed the back patio table ...

It looks amazingly great!!!  I cannot
wait to start eating dinners with my
crew out on the back porch.

IN BETWEEN . . . checked on my
Luke as he started his new ALGEBRA
book today . . .
... went grocery shopping ...
... took Luke to worship team practice ...
... went to my little class at church ...
... at a few bites ...

Whew!  I am ready to hit the rack!!!
I do so love busy productive days.
So far, I have found that this is the best
medicine for healing . . .

Pounding the Pavement.

Each and every morning without fail, I have
been getting up and taking my prayer walks.
It is amazing how much a morning walk
makes the day go together . . .
I have walked as far as 7.1 miles and
that was in a beautiful gentle rain.

Loving my time with the Lord.
Loving my morning walks.

Hopscotch.

It was a cooooold, rainy, and dreary day in
Las Vegas today.  I jumped out of bed and
walked 7.1 miles in the rain . . . Oh, how I
love that.  The kiddos and I had our regular
Friday chores.  Then I jumped in a shower,
put on my cozy pajamas . . . for the entire
day . . .
and sewed like the wind on my new
nine-patch quilt called "Hopscotch".
I loved listening to the wind howl and the
raindrops fall as I quilted away.
I jumped up to make meals for the boys and
then it was back at in until the wee hours
of the morning . . . Oh, how I heart these
types of days!!!!

The Season Begins.

Today was opening day for golf
season . . . and a cold, blustery
day it was at Mountain Falls in
Pahrump, Nevada.

I am talking . . . cold.  Poor Luke was
driving the cart.  He took this picture
of me all bundled up in my quilt.  All
of the guys were joking that it looked
like Luke was driving around a corpse.

Sam finished with an 80 and had to
bolt of to school to give a speech
in his communications class.

We had a great family day out on the
course, except for the cold wind.  Lots
of laughter . . . good times . . . I.like.that.

Just look at what Princess B. can
do . . .
The sky is the limit!!!  I am so
excited!!  The boys are going to
look mighty sharp tomorrow!!!
