Happy, Happy 100th Birthday, Lucy!

I must give a shout out to one of my all

time favorites . . . Lucille Ball.

She and I have been through tons

together: crying babies in the middle

of the night, kidney stones, snowy days,

quilting marathons, pizza in bed with

the kiddos, drizzly nights, nights I

was home alone when everyone else

was camping, and nights I stayed up

way too late working on a project

or two.

I had a fun little Lucy marathon

late last night and had my own

little private celebration which included

cherry limeaid and a brownie.

I.love.Lucy.

Yummy Surprise!

Grandy came to the rescue today as

we experienced recovery day #2.

The rubber really hit the road today as

all of the numbing meds wore off about

5:14a.m. Sam and I knew that we were

in for a day of hard reality. So we had

another great day in the haystack recovering,

took several walks around the upstairs,

and Sam really wanted to go downstairs

to enjoy his yummy, yummy surprise from

Grandy. (This totally wore him out!)

We all LOVED the yummy BJs dinner!

Mike loved the salad, Luke loved the

chicken fingers, and Sam loved, loved, loved

his yummy tomato and bacon deep dish

pizza made the BJs way!!!

Having surgery = no fun.

Recovery definitely has its perks.

Recouperating.

Wow! Hernia surgery is NOT for

cowards . . . especially the 7" type.

My Sam has been recovering the

ENTIRE day today and with the

benefits of modern meds, has been

in LaLa Land much of the day as I

have sat with him and gotten much

accomplished in school as the rest

of our family ran around like elves

catering to every whim that our little

patient had. As of this very moment,

Mike and Zach are making a midnight

run to In-n-Out for a little snack-e-roo!

We are so blessed with a wonderful

family and are so grateful that our

boy is on the mend and will be

raring and ready to go within a

few weeks or so.

Under the Knife.

We spent the day at Renown Hospital

where Sam had hernia surgery.

We were so blessed to be referred to

a wonderful surgeon that we all

fell in love with. He explained the

procedure beautifully and told Sam

exactly what to expect. That is until

he actually did the surgery. When they

were operating, he found that Sam had

a congenital hernia that he had at birth

and was now about 7 inches long.

Praise the Lord, all went well and we are

now home eating our favorite snacks in

bed and catering to our very favorite

patient. Needless to say, my boy will

be one sore puppy tomorrow and for

the next week or so. We cannot wait

until he is back on the golf course and

striving for par once again.

Since it is all about me . . . who is going

to be my moving director? Sam is

such a big help during moving. I told

him that he can organize the silverware

drawers and the napkins!!!

Glad.we.are.home.with.our.Sam.

I wish that I had more pics of my

cute boys, but we are on our summer

schedule and as such . . . it is quite

typical to have bedhead, even at noon!!!

Here's to celebrating the last of our

lazy crazy days of summer!

They're Here!

In our quest to eat more sunflower seeds

than any family in America this summer . . .

Amazon has lived up to its reputation and

aims to please. Yep! These Buffalo Wing

Flavored babies arrived today!! We could

hardly wait until our chores were done,

dinner, Scouts, and school were over so

that we could rip into this much

anticipated box of seeds.

Man, oh, man. Are we in for a rude

awakening in a couple of weeks or what!?!

Thriftin'.

The boys and I had fun thriftin' today at

a couple of favorite haunts.

Junkees is a really fun store with

TONS of fun antiques to look at

and explore. It is a great place to

find Halloween costumes, hats, and

dress up clothes.

There aren't too many clothes that

we like to buy there, but it is a REALLY

fun to place to look around. The kids

cannot believe all of the "OLD" stuff,

circa 1950s and 1960s!!

More modern, more hip, and

much more our style for clothes

is Plato's closet. The moment we

walk in the door, we all fan out

for our very favorite sections.

Today's bargain . . . an Abercrombie

and Fitch winter coat $30.
